The week before Christmas we had the wonderful opportunity to fly to Arusha with Elder & Sis. Hutchinson and spend six days with our other good friends, Sis. & Elder Luke. Along with spending time in Arusha we went on a safari. It was such an incredible time being able to experience the beautiful types of plants and animals that we are not used to seeing.

Bushmen tribe they reminded me of the Indians and what happened to them. They are hunters and the area has been populated so there was less area for them to hunt animals for food. They have turned to buying corn, grinding it and selling it and also using it to make ugsli, a main staple food here in Tanzania. We really enjoyed our visit with these 2 tribes.

Our guide. He shared that he loves these people.

They let us try our luck with the bow and arrow. Actually Dad did quite well.

After archery practice all of a sudden these young men heard a sound of a bird and immediately ran to the tree. They did not get anything though.

These are roots that they cook and then peel to eat.

This little one looked healthy and happy.

Our last day was spent here.

I have really enjoyed the elephants

MOU Ceremony for the two Health Centers. It is so good go have these projects ready to get started.

Our District President Addressing the municipal leaders.

Kind and gracious people

This stream reminded me of home.

A short hike in Arusha National Park.

We really enjoyed visiting Shanga in Arusha. It is a successful social enterprise which employs people with disabilities to create unique, high quality, handmade jewelry, glassware and homeware using recycled materials.

The guide we had shared with me that instead of calling these employees people with special needs he likes to call them people with special abilities. It was a rewarding experience being with them and letting them share their skills.

Majestic elephants, they travel as families. It was so fun to also see the babies. We were in the safari vehicles and the elephants were not concerned.

It has been a wonderful opportunity to get to be involved in the Young Adults Institute Program (we do not teach because many do not know much English, but at times participate with Pres. Ikube translating for us.)They are such a great bunch of young people and ask good questions.

We had an enjoyable Christmas party at our villa with them. 🎄
